More about Allies

  • Allies HMO vs. Allies Choice HMO

Both Allies HMO and Allies Choice HMO offer the same great benefits and have access to the same network of trusted providers.

With Allies HMO, the amount you pay for health care services is the same at any participating hospital. Allies Choice HMO offers lower monthly costs by separating hospitals into two tiers.

    These tiers are:

    • Tier 1: Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Salem Hospital, South Shore Hospital, McLean Hospital, Spaulding Rehabilitation Network, and their affiliates.
    • Tier 2: Mass General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Mass Eye and Ear, and their affiliated facilities.

Certain health care services have higher cost sharing when you get them at a Tier 2 hospital. You can find a list of these services along with the Tier 1 and Tier 2 facilities below.

  • Allies Choice tiered services & facilities

    Tiered services

Your cost sharing for the services below will depend on the hospital or facility where they happen.

    • Inpatient medical services
    • Outpatient diagnostic imaging and X-ray (including ultrasound)
    • Outpatient high-tech radiology (CT scans, MRIs, etc.)
    • Outpatient surgery
    • Outpatient short-term rehabilitation (cardiac, physical, occupational, and speech therapy).

Tier 1: Your regional hospitals and their affiliates.

These hospitals offer the services listed above at lower cost sharing:

Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Salem Hospital, South Shore Hospital, McLean Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital, Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, Nantucket Cottage Hospital, and Spaulding Rehabilitation Network.

Tier 2: Our renowned academic medical centers.

These hospitals offer the services listed above at higher cost sharing, but are available when your PCP refers you, if you need their specialized expertise:

Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and Massachusetts General Hospital.

  • Allies primary care

A good relationship with your primary care provider (PCP) is the key to lower costs, more convenient care, and better health. But, many people don’t have that kind of close relationship with their healthcare provider.

Allies PCPs will get to know you as an individual, not just a name. They’ll partner with you to help define your health goals and meet your ongoing care needs.

If you ever need to switch PCPs, an Allies Health Navigator can help you transfer your medical records and book your first appointment with your new Allies provider.
